The Holmen Area Fire Department and other area first responders got to show off their trucks and share ice cream with local kids. The ice cream social was put together by Dustin Wood, the new owner of Midway Deli in Onalaska. “I thought it’d be a great community thing to have a little meet and greet and ice cream social, and let some kids see a fire truck and meet some firemen and policemen and first responders up close,” says Wood. Kids could climb in and out of the fire trucks and ask firefighters about their equipment. Dozens of kids and parents showed up to meet the first responders.
