One person dead after crash with semi in Marathon County

One person diedTuesday night in a crash with a semi in Marathon County. Deputies responded around 9:30 p.m. to the intersection of Highway 29 and Bass Lake Road in the town of Norrie, according to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office. Officials said an SUV was going north on Bass Lake Road and tried to cross Highway 29 without yielding. A semi hauling a tanker trailer was going west on Highway 29 and hit the passenger side of the SUV. Officials said the SUV driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver wasn’t injured. The crash is under investigation. The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Hatley Fire Department, Hately EMS, Aspirus Medivac, the Marathon County Highway Department and the Marathon County Medical Examiner’s Office.
