Wisconsin Firefighters and Emergency Medical Service Personals who died over the past ten years were named in a memorial service Saturday afternoon. Sponsored by the Wisconsin Firefighter EMS Memorial (WFEM), the annual event added six new service members to their list of officers who died in the line of service. Friends and family of the fallen were presented a flag and rose by the WFEM Honor Guard. Mitchell Lundgaard of Appleton was one of the firefighters honored at the ceremony. Lundgaard was shot while on duty, members of the Appleton fire department represented his family. “These kinds of things have a lasting effect and it's just nice to know that people apricate that service.” Lieutenant Steven Unruh said “it's a great honor for him and or all of us just the fact that he is being memorialized and we can honor his sacrifice."
