The Town of Peshtigo Fire Department has placed a new rescue craft into service that is available to respond to water rescues and other water-related emergencies. The new 15-foot Mercury Ocean Runner rigid inflatable rescue boat has been outfitted with a 40 HP Mercury outboard motor and equipped with state-of-the art navigation, lighting and rescue equipment. The boat will be operated by the town’s volunteer firefighters and dispatched through the Marinette County 911 system to respond to any water-related emergency in Town of Peshtigo waters including the Peshtigo River, near shore waters of Green Bay or elsewhere to assist other agencies through the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS). Those who operate the craft have recently completed initial operational training and boater safety certification courses.
