Firefighters respond to large grease fire in Town of Holland storage building

A storage building caught fire from heated grease in the Town of Holland Sunday afternoon. At 2:26 p.m. Sunday afternoon, Holmen Area Fire Department say in a release that they were dispatched to N8141 Amsterdam Prairie Rd, where they found heavy smoke and fire coming from inside the building. No one was injured, but the building sustained heavy smoke and fire damage. 28 firefighters, with 12 fire apparatus from across the area, fought to contain the fire for about four hours. Holmen fire was assisted by La Crosse, Onalaska, Galesville, Farmington, Trempealeau, Campbell fire departments, as well as Tri-State Ambulance, the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department and Riverland Energy.
