Fire crews are investigating what caused a house fire near Stoughton Friday afternoon.
The fire was reported around 4:15 p.m. in the 1500 block of Williams Drive, according to Dane County dispatch. Stoughton Fire Chief Joshua Ripp when firefighters got to the scene, they found heavy smoke coming from the back of the home as well as the attic.
A woman inside was able to get out safely with the help of family members, he said. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release late Friday night the fire caused at least $100,000 in damage.
While the cause of the fire is under investigation, it is not believed to be suspicious, the release said.
