The Beaver Dam Fire Department has received a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. The department is in line for $106,805 from the Emergency Medical Services Flex Grant program. The governor authorized $32-million-dollars in funding to assist licensed EMS agencies. The move was triggered by the COVID pandemic and the associated economic impacts which has effected EMS services throughout the state. Fire Chief Michael Wesle says due to tight budgets and production delays, his department has fallen behind in their apparatus replacement program. He says this grant will be used to finance the purchase of a new ambulance. The chief notes that without the assistance of the Flex Grant, this purchase would have to be delayed into the coming years.
