The Kaukauna Fire Department is celebrating their 100 year anniversary with a special event Oct. 1, 2022. The celebration is open to the public from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and will kick off with opening remarks from current and past Fire Department chiefs, Mayor Penterman, and more. Following opening remarks, the event will include a Pig Roast, the ThedaStar Helicopter, a jaws of life demonstration, kids activities, a photo booth, and more. The definitive history of the department was written in 2015 by Kaukauna historian and resident Carol Van Boxtel. “Through The Flames More Than 100 Years Of History,” details the organizational structure of the fire department dating back to the late 1800’s from when it started as a completely volunteer fire department to its existence today as a full service municipal entity.
