Madison Fire Department crews worked through the night Friday, battling a three-alarm fire on the city's south side. Officials said the fire was stabilized Saturday morning, but crews remained on scene. No injuries were reported, but a building that officials said housed tire pallets and over 50 vehicles was heavily damaged. Video filmed from a drone by News 3 Now viewer Justin Benande shows the immense scale of the blaze. News 3 Now crews reported smelling smoke miles away from the scene and feeling the heat of the fire from about a quarter of a mile away. Nearby residents were asked to stay indoors and keep windows closed Friday night, though those orders were lifted Saturday morning. It's unknown at this point how the fire started, but fire officials said strong winds and the building's contents -- vehicles, tires and fuel sources -- kept the flames going and made putting them out difficult.
