A shed fire in Orfordville shut down a portion of Wisconsin Highway 81 for multiple hours Wednesday night. In an alert from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation around 7 p.m., officials said all lanes of traffic are closed going east and west on Wisconsin Highway 81 at Merlet Rd due to a fire. The initial alert indicated that they were alerted to the fire around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Rock County officials said that the fire started on a residential property in a detached shed. Equipment inside the shed was damaged. Orfordville Fire Department alongside Footville, Broadhead, Albany and Town of Beloit Fire Departments responded to the fire with Rock County Sheriff’s officials. The roadway was reopened around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. There was no information provided on the cause of the fire. There were no injuries reported.
