Three firefighters with Wisconsin ties who died in the line of duty last year will be honored this weekend as part of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend. Two longtime Mineral Point firefighters, 43-year-old Captain Brian Busch and 69-year-old James Ludlum are among the 144 firefighters from around the country who will be recognized for their service during this weekend's event. Busch and Ludlum were killed January 6, 2022 after a semi-truck hit their fire truck while both men were responding to a separate crash outside of Mineral Point. Both men died at the scene. Their deaths had a widespread impact on the Mineral Point community, which rallied behind the men's families after the accident.
