VIDEO: CampHERO, a non-profit organization, is putting on a camp this week to bridge the gap for girls entering protective services.
Lorlei, 10, is a third year camper who was at the camp Monday. She said that she knows what career she wants to pursue when she is older.
“What makes me think that I want to be a policeman or firefighter when I’m older is because of the fact that you can do things that save people’s lives and make an impact,” said Lorlei.
She came to CampHERO to continue to learn life-saving skills.
“For CPR you do ‘ah ah ah ah stayin’ alive stayin’ alive,” Lorlei sang. “And you can use that because everybody knows that song so using that in CPR helps me remember about that,” said Lorlei.
CampHERO is where Lorlei met volunteer Mallory Zuhde. Zudhe started volunteering at CampHERO five years ago.
