National Night Out brings first responders together with the communities they serve.
This year, in Wood County, they've got something new, and at Witter Field they had something for everyone.
From the fire department to the sheriff's department, police, search and rescue, national guard, state patrol, US Army and all their gadgets and gizmos.
It's a chance to maybe learn something new.
"It's hard to describe at times how little it seems the community knows about the fire department as far as we go we want people to know that we are here that we have these resources and educational opportunities to help them stay safe at home," said Justin Shaffer, firefighter paramedic with the Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department.
As much as it opens up community to them, it also served as a reminder of how grateful people are.
