500 gallons of water used to put out fire at Mercury Marine plant in Fond du Lac

Around 500 gallons of water was used on a fire at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac on Tuesday evening. According to a release, Fond du Lac Fire & Rescue was sent to Mercury Marine Plant 15 at 560 West Pioneer Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel found smoke coming from the building’s roof vent, and evacuations were in progress. Mercury Marine staff met firefighters and directed crews to the fire’s origin. Additionally, procedures were followed to shut down the power supply. The release says that around 500 gallons of water was used to extinguish the fire. FDL fire personnel worked with Mercury maintenance with overhaul operations and gaining access to the inside of the vent. The damage was contained to the oven and venting. Fond du Lac Fire & Rescue is investigating the cause of the fire.
