PHOTOS: Town of Campbell Fire Chief Nate Melby said the fire at the Omaha Track facility on French Island is about 30-percent contained as of 10:15 a.m. Melby provided an update to the media on the fire that he said consisted mainly of railroad ties. Omaha Track recycles railroad ties. He said the chips created go to the Xcel Energy facility just down the street. He said that multiple departments are on the scene trying to contain the fire and keep it from spreading. He commended the teamwork of all the departments in fighting this fire. Early word is that the fire started around 1:30 a.m. in an area near a shed that contains wood chips. The fire spread to nearby piles of railroad ties. "There's so much fuel there, it's hard to extinguish," Chief Melby said. He didn't know yet what caused the fire.
