VIDEO: Investigators from the Merrill Fire Department say a bug zapper that likely malfunctioned is to blame for garage fire near Irma. Crews responded to a property on Mary Todd Court Town of Rock Falls around 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Investigators believe the device was plugged in and placed very close to an interior wall which may have overheated or had a malfunction. Smoke and flames were coming from the eves of the garage when agencies arrived on scene. Upon arrival of the first responding units smoke was visible from the eves and flames were coming out of the northside of the building above the overhead doors of the unattached garage. The structure and contents sustained fire, smoke and heat damage. No one was injured as a result of the fire.
