Monday about a house fire at the intersection of Emerson Avenue and Paddock Green Drive in Parkersburg. Firefighters say passersby noticed the fire at the top of the home and knocked on the door to alert the residents and help them and their pets evacuate, and also called 911. Vienna Fire Chief Steve Scholl said: "When we got here there was heavy smoke showing. Firemen were already on scene. It all appeared to be contained to the attic at that time. We sent a preconnect line upstairs. They attacked it, got the fire out that was just contained to the attic. Everybody worked together as a team, got the fire out and saved quite a bit so everything's good." Vienna, Williamstown and Aaverly fire departments all responded to extinquish the fire.
