A Layland man is being held at Southern Regional Jail after allegedly rolling a car while drunk, leaving the scene and then head-butting a firefighter who found him walking down the road. According to court documents, deputies with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, along with emergency personnel, were dispatched Sunday evening to an accident on Meadow Bridge Road in Danese. The responders were notified that the driver of the vehicle that crashed was leaving the scene. While en route, members of the Danese Fire Department spotted the driver running on the road in traffic. They stopped to check on the man, who became combative toward them, allegedly head-butting one of the firefighters. A deputy arrived on the scene, identified the man as John Caldwell Farley Jr., 46, and noticed the smell of alcohol.
