A Meadow Bridge woman was charged Monday with first degree arson in Fayette County. Fayette County Sheriff's Deputy Aaron M. Murray arrived on the scene of what he originally thought was an ordinary fire call, but soon discovered that there had been foul play. According to a criminal complaint, Judith Anne Forren, 69, admitted that she had started the fire by lighting her mattress on fire in an attempt to burn the entire house down. "I lit it on fire so I could get away from him," Forren said, referring to her husband. Forren also stated that she had started fires on numerous occasions and that she wished she would have waited until her husband had gone to sleep before she set the mattress on fire so that she could have successfully killed them both, according to the complaint.
