The deadline for the 2019 Wood County fire fee is coming up when people can pay without incurring any penalties. The bills went out in January to residences, businesses and other properties throughout Wood County, said Wood County Fire Board Chairman Kim Marshall. “April 15 is the deadline,” Marshall said. “A penalty will be added after that.” The fire fee is assessed annually at 2 cents per square foot for single family residences and apartments and 3 cents per square foot on industrial properties. A $3,000 cap is in place for industrial sites that would be over $3,000. Any structure determined by the Wood County assessor to be uninhabitable will be assessed a $5 fee.
