Coming up on May 8th, Monongalia County Commission will be holding a public hearing concerning an annexation petition filed by the city of Granville. The areas under consideration are Chaplin Road route 19 from the Star City Bridge to the fire department event center and parts of Scotts Run Road to Lady Bug Lane. Granville Fire Chief Butch Renner said he would like to make the property a training center for the area's first responders. "If we get a training center in down there, that would help all fire departments in the county with our ISO rating since there is no training facility in our county. Also with the shortage that other departments and stuff have, a lot of the training, they have to leave the county," said Renner.
