Local emergency responder agencies received several thousand dollars each in donations from the dissolving Buckhannon Rotary Club Wednesday night.
The donations — distributed to all seven fire departments in Upshur County along with the Buckhannon Police Department, Upshur County Sheriff’s Department and Upshur County EMS — were made from the current board of directors of the club, according to DeAnna Grogg. Grogg would have been president-elect of the club which dissolved at midnight Wednesday.
“We are an organization that really works on benefiting humanitarian needs throughout our counties where we serve,” she said. “In dissolving the club, we had to think of humanitarians we had not touched in the past that much that really do so much for our community, for our protection as well as the protection of everybody else in the county and the city.
