"Enjoyable, it's pretty fun." Several families and people from the community came out to learn more about Fairmont's city officials while having fun at National Night Out. National Night Out is hosted by police agencies around the state to interact with the people while teaching them how to be safe and what officials do for a living. Lieutenant John Nigh says that the event is a great opportunity for people to learn more about police, firefighters and more agencies from the area. "Giving everybody a chance to come down here and interact with the police and let them know that we're people just like everybody else," said Night. "It's a good time." Nigh also says that people sometimes will have trouble coming up to talk to officials so the event gives first responders the chance to show the community that they are friendly and can be talked to at any time.
