Fire demolished a fifth vacant home in the Mineral-Allegany county are early Monday, when firefighters were called to 89 E. Hampshire St. in Piedmont at approximately 2:30 a.m. According to one firefighter on the scene, the flames were shooting 50 feet into the air when the first company arrived on the scene. The blaze destroyed the home owned by Fred Price and heavily damaged a second vacant home nearby. Investigators from the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office are probing this and at least two other fires in the area and are asking for anyone with any information to call the W.Va. Arson Hotline.
