The future East Side Fire Station took a major step forward Tuesday at the Fairmont City Council meeting.
Following a public hearing earlier in the meeting, council adopted an ordinance allowing the fire station project to proceed.
The ordinance is for “authorizing and approving the design, acquisition, construction and equipping of a new fire station to be constructed on real property located in the vicinity of 828 Vermont Ave. in the City Of Fairmont and to be known as the ‘East Side Fire Station’ By the City Of Fairmont on behalf of the Fairmont Building Commission.”
In the council chambers, a rendering of the new fire station was on display, along with the floor plans of the two-story structure.
Speaking in favor of the ordinance City Manager Valerie Means, said it “is a very exciting time to be looking for a new station.”
