A house fire late Tuesday night caused minor injuries to two people and caused severe damage to a single-family residence in Martinsburg, according to Baker Heights Fire Department Chief Marty Roberts.
At approximately 10:54 p.m., a residence located at 335 Bernice Ave. caught fire, resulting in a total loss, Roberts said.
Roberts said two people in the house suffered minor injuries from the fire. He said both people were sent by ambulance to Berkeley Medical Center. A fireman was also injured, but was treated on the scene, Roberts said.
“One firefighter was treated on scene for debris in the eye,” he said. “The eye was flushed with no further injury and no further treatment or transport.”
Roberts said a possible cause for the fire was a cooking accident.
