A guardrail on Exit 132 of Interstate 79 southbound in White Hall became “embedded” in a tractor-trailer after the vehicle struck it on Saturday afternoon, according to Valley Volunteer Fire Department Lt. Dylan Yanero. He said about 50 to 100 feet of guardrail was “smashed up” as a result of the incident, but no one was injured. “It’s embedded into the 18-wheeler right now,” Yanero said as firefighters responded to the scene. “The guardrail is wrapped up in the wheels.” Marion County 911 said the call came in at 3:01 p.m. Yanero said the fire department planned to use a special type of tool called a “mass transit cutter” to cut the guardrail in places so the tractor-trailer could be freed. He said the state Division of Highways was being notified first, however. He didn’t know how the incident happened.
