Though no injuries were reported, a tractor-trailer fire in the early morning hours Wednesday knocked out power to traffic lights off of Interstate 81, creating an early morning slowdown along King Street.
According to a supervisor with Berkeley County Dispatch, a tractor-trailer fire was called in at 2:47 a.m. on the King Street exit off of northbound Interstate 81.
Baker Heights fire chief Marty Roberts, said the tractor was fully engulfed when units arrived on scene, and the flames were completely put out at 3:47 a.m.
Responding entities included the City of Martinsburg Fire Department, South Berkeley Volunteer Fire Department, the 167th Air Guard Fire Department and Baker Heights Volunteer Fire Department, the latter of which took the lead on the accident.
