The Daily Dispatch and the Western Fire Chiefs Association, in conjunction with the Lighthouse Uniform Company, are pleased to present the Bereavement Uniform Program.

Long known for its Fallen Fire Fighter Dress Uniform, Lighthouse Uniforms now has available a new program called the Bereavement Uniform ProgramThis new program is an offshoot of the Fallen Fire Fighter Dress Uniform Program providing an active response to families finding themselves in need of ‘end game’ help.

The goal of the Bereavement Uniform Program is two-fold:

First and foremost, the Bereavement Uniform Program affords every firefighter the honor and every firefighter’s family the opportunity to bury their loved one in a Dress Uniform, at No Cost.

Second, the Bereavement Uniform Program works to build a connection between the generations and to ‘take care of those who took care of us’.

The success of the Bereavement Uniform Program is directly related to the program’s ability to communicate a ‘call to action’ to the country’s fire departments. The basis of the program is to ask departments to check their closets for any surplus or ‘no use’ dress uniforms and send them to the Lighthouse. I have already done this myself, and found it very rewarding, knowing that I am helping a family in a time of trial, as well as honoring one of our fallen. For an involved description of the mechanics of the Bereavement Uniform Program, please visit http://bereavement.lighthouseuniform.com/.

The ever growing list of departments donating to the Bereavement Uniform Program may be viewed at http://bereavement.lighthouseuniform.com/wall-of-fame.

For more information, history or desire to use the Bereavement Uniform Program, please contact Steve Cohen, President of Lighthouse Uniform Co.  Steve will be happy to answer any questions you may have by phone 1-800-426-5225 (Seattle time) or email at steve@lighthouseuniform.com.

This is an opportunity to do something meaningful and important.  The Bereavement Uniform Program truly is an opportunity to ‘take care of those who took care of us’.   Whether ‘giving’ or ‘receiving’, I encourage you to make use of this innovative program.
