An Excellent Fire Chief Opportunity in Sisters, Oregon

My Community
I live in the picturesque town of Sisters, Oregon. It’s a world apart from Portland, and frankly, we wouldn’t have it any other way. Sisters is undeniably one of the premier places to live in the Northwest. Its high quality of life attracts some of the region’s most accomplished individuals. I especially love that it’s a place that embraces a late 1800’s community theme, extending a warm welcome to cowboys, artists, musicians, and entrepreneurs, all within a culture that values polite discourse and a deep appreciation for the great outdoors.

The Agency & Opportunity
The community of Sisters is amazing, and so is the Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District. The District’s Fire Chief, Roger Johnson (who happens to be my brother), will retire in July of 2024, and the Western Fire Chiefs Association (WFCA) is actively searching for a highly qualified successor.

The Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District serves 3000 city residents and 7000 surrounding residents. The District has 10 line employees, 5 administrative staff members, as well as volunteers and a dedicated Fire Corps cadre. The Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District has been under effective leadership for many decades and is highly respected as a fire and EMS transport agency with ample and stable funding.

WFCA uses a Confidential Recruitment process that allows you to express interest and learn if you are aligned with their search in complete confidentiality. If you are a fit, we will tell you. Likewise, if you aren’t aligned, we will be equally as candid. Our goal is to ensure that candidates are thoroughly informed before proceeding to the official hiring process.

More Reasons to Love Sisters
The public schools in Sisters offer remarkable opportunities for students. They can engage in diverse activities, like crafting a guitar in woodshop taught by Breedlove guitar artisans, participating in Habitat for Humanity home-building projects, or even pursuing Flight Sciences to earn a pilot’s license, generously sponsored by the local airport owners. The list goes on, but these are some of my personal favorites.

This opportunity should interest you if you have a passion for golf, the great outdoors, appreciate a top-notch school system, value proximity to a regional airport within 30 minutes, enjoy having two ski resorts nearby, and seek a social atmosphere that’s both polite and sophisticated. Additionally, if you are a forward-looking Fire Chief who recognizes the importance of excellence and a positive organizational culture, this could be an ideal fit for you.
