A garage at 320 mile of the Richardson Highway was heavily damaged by fire Wednesday morning, according to a news release issued by Salcha Fire and Rescue. Fire units arrived within 12 minutes of receiving the call to find the rear and roof of the two-bay commercial structure engulfed.
The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes, and crews remained on scene for an additional three hours to complete salvage, according to the release.
“There was heavy fire damage. The building’s still standing, but there was structural failure of the roof. We won’t know the true extent until we get the insurance folks in there,” fire Chief Ernie Misewicz said.
