Area responders were dispatched to a residential structure fire at 1409 Tanana Loop Extension around 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening. Firefighters arrived to find the home fully engulfed in fire. Rural Deltana Fire Chief Tim Castleberry said firefighters were delayed in attacking the fire due to live electrical lines and a large propane take that was venting due to the heat from the fire. Castleberry also said an above ground heating fuel tank ignited, shooting flames close to 70 feet into the air A neighbor arriving home saw the home burning and called 911. No one was at home at the time of the fire. Approximately 15 firefighters from Rural Deltana, City of Delta Junction, and Fort Greely Fire Departments were on scene for about three hours Sunday evening. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
