Capitol City Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire in the Mendenhall Valley

On Monday, March 25, 2024 at approximately 6:14pm, Capital City Fire Rescue was dispatched to the 9200 block of Long Run Drive in the Mendenhall Valley for a residential structure fire. Upon arrival, personnel found a two story, single family dwelling with smoke showing from the second floor kitchen area. Personnel made a quick fire attack and contained the fire to the kitchen. A home owner was evaluated on scene for smoke inhalation and was released. The fire started in the kitchen due to grease igniting from unattended cooking on the stove top. No other injuries were reported. Damages are estimated at approximately $60,000 and the home was insured. CCFR was clear of the incident within an hour and half.
