VIDEO: A suspected drunk-driving crash left one dead, another injured, and closed the Parks Highway in both directions for hours Wednesday morning in Wasilla.
A Wasilla Police Department spokesperson said alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash that took place shortly before 8:30 a.m. on the road near its intersection with Alpine Street, adjacent to the Lowe’s hardware store.
Police said the motorist suspected of driving impaired was headed north on the highway in a pickup when they crossed over into the southbound lane, colliding with an SUV and a sedan and killing one of the occupants in those vehicles.
Wasilla police added that the impaired driver has not yet been taken into custody “due to the severity of their injuries.”
