Local firefighters, their families and other community members gathered in Savannah to remember the firefighters in the Chatham County area who made the ultimate sacrifice keeping us safe.
The Savannah-Chatham Metro Area Firefighters Memorial was held outside the Savannah Fire and Emergency Services headquarters on Oglethorpe Avenue on Sunday. “It’s the ultimate sacrifice. It’s the sacrifice on the part of the families who do not have that loved one, that member of their family anymore, it’s a sacrifice for the firefighters because we’re all family as well,” said Compliance Officer Thad Dixon with the Chatham Fire Department.
