An unthinkable tragedy led to the unlikeliest of heroes.
Clay Rowe, a drywall worker, says he was heading home for some supplies Tuesday when he saw a bus pulled off to the side of the road on Highway 196.
"All the little kids come running. I mean, they was running, hollering, 'We need help, we need help!'" he said. "I got out and gathered them all up. One little girl told me her sister was still on the bus. I could tell she was fighting back the tears herself and she was trembling."
That girl was Sage Shuman, the older sister of 5-year-old Cambria, who died when the school bus veered off the road, crashing into a tree.
