Firefighters were on the scene of an apartment fire in Albany early Thursday morning. The fire happened around 5:30 in the 600 block of Tift Avenue. Battalion Chief Keith Ambrose said 14 firefighters responded to the fire and that the fire was contained within minutes. The apartments are Albany Housing Authority units. Ambrose said the fire started near bagged up debris on the front porch and spread into the apartment. The fire was contained to the front of the home. No injuries have been reported at this time. Ambrose said no one was home at the time.
