Johns Creek has announced the retirement of Fire Chief Jeff Hogan, who is leaving his city post to accept an appointment as Georgia state fire marshal in February. Hogan began his fire career more than 35 years ago with the Fulton County Fire Department, officials said. After various operations, investigative and supervisory roles, Hogan retired from Fulton to join the newly formed Johns Creek Fire Department in 2008. He was named fire chief there in February 2011. Johns Creek officials credited Hogan with improving the city’s fire protection rating to Class 2, saving citizens more than $6 million in insurance premiums. As state fire marshal, Hogan will manage the Fire Marshal’s Office and oversee building, manufactured housing and hazardous materials inspections, engineering and licensing, officials said.
