Two residents escaped but one Bartow County man died in a house fire near Adairsville Tuesday morning, according to Bartow County Fire Department Deputy Chief Dwayne Jamison. Despite the best efforts of two others in the home at the intersection of Rock Fence Road and Barnsley Gardens Road, a resident in the home was unable to escape and already had perished by the time fire crews reached the scene sometime after 7:41 a.m. The fire was reported by passersby in the area as there was no phone in the home to make an emergency call. Jamison said the home was 75 percent engulfed in flames and the roof was starting to cave in when crews arrived. "There were three total at the home, two males and a female," Jamison said Wednesday. "One of the male subjects woke up, saw the fire, and tried to fight it with a co2 extinguisher, but was unable to control the fire."
