Firefighters stop a Machesney Park home from catching fire after the truck sitting next to it bursts into flames. The North Park Fire Department responded to the truck fire in the 500 block of Pershing Avenue at around 10:30 p.m. Monday night. Crews were on scene within three minutes of getting the call. It took them about eight minutes to put out the fire, which spread from the truck to the home's attached garage. North Park Fire Chief Joel Hallstrom says his crews' quick response helped prevent the fire from spreading further. Hallstrom says the cause is believed to be an electrical malfunction inside the truck. The family living there was able to return home for the night. An estimated cost of damage is not yet available. No one was hurt.
