A Central Peoria man was sentenced Monday to 12 years in prison for setting fire to a house last fall. Deandrea M. Donald, 38, of 1214 W. McClure Ave. pleaded guilty in Peoria County Circuit Court to one count of residential arson in connection with the Nov. 5 fire. In return, charges of aggravated arson and arson were dropped. The charges stem from the fire at 2311 N. Elmwood Ave. Police were called about 7:45 p.m. to the 2300 block of North Elmwood Avenue about an earlier arson at a residence. Evidence indicated the fire was intentionally set while the residents were home, although no one was hurt. Detectives later identified Donald as the suspect. With credit for time served and day for day “go0d-time” credit, he could be released in less than six years.
