The Wilmington Fire Department has moved into its new station on 114 Cinema Drive. The new fire station is replacing the current Station 3 on 3933 Princess Place Drive and Station 4 on 310 Wallace Avenue. Assistant Fire Chief Frank Blackley said, “We’ve designed the building so the firefighters are able to access the trucks as quick as possible.” The station itself is strategically located as well. Blackley said, “What we looked at was our history of incidents. And where could we place a fire station that would maintain those same response times instead of having to build two stations, we’d only have to build one. So we kind of looked at all that data and chose this location.” There will be an open house at the new station this Saturday, November 21 at 10:00 in the morning. The event is free and open to the public.
