Investigators are trying to learn how a fire began this afternoon that heavily damaged a home in Farmville. Fire Captain Bobby House says they were called to the corner of South Barrett and West Cotton streets around 2:20 p.m. Flames were showing at a rear window when firefighters first arrived and it took multiple fire departments about a half hour to bring the fire under control. House said the fire started in the kitchen and spread to two bedrooms. He said the home is heavily damaged, but it is not a total loss.
