Together with Novant Health, Matthews Fire and EMS will hold a traditional “wetdown” ceremony to celebrate the arrival of Fire Engine 22, a new fire truck recently purchased by the Town of Matthews. The equipment on the truck was purchased through a generous donation from Novant Health. The ceremonial tradition includes the old fire truck spraying down the new truck that will replace it. Fire Engine 22 will then be wiped down by firefighters and local citizens in attendance, and pushed into the Fire Station signaling the truck is now in service.
