The Western Carteret Fire and EMS Department will take over the Stella Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday, July 1, thanks to decisions made Monday and Tuesday by county commissioners and the Western Carteret Interlocal Cooperation Agency.
The ILCA board, which met in special session Tuesday at the fire department’s office on Sherwood Avenue, voted unanimously for the takeover, as did county commissioners, without discussion, during their second June board meeting Monday in the administration building in Beaufort.
