A mother suffered burns after rescuing her two children from their burning home Monday morning, said Roanoke Rapids Fire Battalion Chief Tim Gray. The fire call came in 8:44 a.m. and the incident occurred in the 700 block of Raleigh Drive. The mother, Christina Tannenbaum, was flown to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. The two children, a 5-year-old and a 1-and-a-half-year-old, seemed fine but were sent to an area hospital for an examination.
