Hundreds of people learned more about fire safety and prevention on Sunday while enjoying fun activities and demonstrations at No. 7 Township Fire and Rescue. For nearly a decade, the firefighters at this volunteer fire station in New Bern have encouraged people to get up-close and personal with their firetrucks and gear during their annual open house. The fire department says every year the event keeps getting bigger and now other first responders, including crews who fly the Vidant EastCare helicopter are there to participate in the event. Firefighters say normally they only see and meet people in the community during their worst moments, so this open house is a great way to have fun with the families they help protect.
