A father and son were killed in a Sunday morning house fire in Johnston County. Around 10:30 a.m., firefighters responded to a home at 1592 Beulahtown Road near Kenly. Authorities said the father and young son, whose identities were not released, were pronounced dead at the scene and two children and a woman who lived at the home were taken to an area hospital for treatment. "My wife's a school teacher and she just wanted to come make sure it wasn't any of her kids in the class and the class teachers at that school have a really tight knit group," said neighbor Chris Coley. "It's a tragedy that someone lost their life. It's a real shame." Authorities said all children in the home were under 11 years of age. "It's terrible, it's terrible. I would hate for my son to pass away like that," said neighbor Ivory Neal. Authorities said the fire started in a bedroom near the rear of the house and at least one person was trapped in the home when firefighters arrived.
