A new truck has joined the Hickory Fire ranks, and will work out of Station 1 on Second Street Drive NE.
The Rosenbauer fire/rescue pumper truck has a 700-gallon water tank, and contains a hydraulic-powered, 8,000-watt generator to power emergency scene lighting equipment, according to a Hickory Fire press release. The release lists a litany of additions to the truck, including the addition of two digital color camera systems to combat blind spots for drivers of the truck. The vehicle is powered by a 450-horsepower Cummins diesel engine and features an Allison five-speed transmission.
The cost of the truck was $475,990, according to the release. It replaces a 1999 pumper truck.
