PHOTO: A firetruck was damaged Thursday morning after it caught fire, officials said.
City officials said one of the trucks at Concord Fire Department’s Station 8 caught fire inside the building. Crews were awakened by the sound of fire alarms going off within the station around 4:18 a.m.
After finding the bay filled with heavy smoke, firefighters were able to get to their firefighting gear, remove the truck from the station, pull the hose lines and immediately begin fire suppression. Firefighters said nobody was hurt by the flames and the only damage was to the truck. And while they don’t yet know what caused the fire, they said it looks like it started inside of the cab area.
Old Charlotte Road Southwest was blocked outside the station while the incident was controlled.
